從沒回過越南的台灣外孫，憑藉著母子間的對話，構築出對母親祖國的想像。對易龍來說，越南是個既遙遠又貼近的名詞；但對母親而言，越南卻是個人去樓空，不願回想的原生地。由於父親生病，一家四口全仰賴母親照料，早慧的佩瑾就像上天給予父母的天使，是父母心中溫暖的慰藉。

Yi-long's mother is an immigrant from Vietnam. To Yi-long, Vietnam is a country so far away, yet so seemingly-familiar. To his mother, it is home – a place full of memories and nostalgia that she rather not speak about. Pei-jin's father is ill, leaving her mother the sole caretaker of the family. But they are fortunate, because Pei-jin is the gift from the heavens.
