學校圍牆的這端與那端，怎麼各有一棵繫紅緞帶的百年老樹？樹幹上怎麼都有磚塊？一個凱達格蘭族語「Beitou」發音的地名，與「女巫」有什麼關係？又與那一棵牆外的雀榕、牆內的刺桐有何糾纏呢？學生為了拯救即將傾倒的刺桐樹，該如何申請經費？如何在都發局與政府官員溝通想法？又如何與一牆之隔的警察局協商圍牆如何拆？

Why are the old trees on campus wrapped with red ribbons? Where are there bricks in the trees? This is a story about school children fighting to save trees. They will apply for funding from the local government. They will negotiate with the police station next door.
